SmartLipo in Los Angeles
SmartLipo, Smart Lipo or laser lipolysis, is a procedure for fat removal like liposuction that utilizes the energy generated from a laser fiber to "melt" fat away. In SmartLipo, a laser fiber is inserted into the pocket of fat to be reduced. The energy generated by the laser promotes the destruction of fat cells.
Several studies on laser liposuction have been published which show reductions in the overall volume of fat. Reduction appears to be greatest in small collections of fat, such as, fat located under the chin. As an added benefit, laser liposuction may also tighten the overlying skin by inducing collagen formation and a healing response.
SmartLipo, also known as Smart Lipo or laser lipolysis, has recently received FDA approval for use in the United States. Smart Lipo is a new treatment, and Dr. Osman is currently evaluating the true benefits of this procedure.
Another laser liposuction device called Cool Laser liposuction has also recently come to market. It is very similar to Smart Lipo, and its benefits are not proven yet either.
Dr. Osman currently offers liposuction using local anesthesia only.
